History
Abigail Cate Hayes was young when she became a woman, quite young. It was against her parents' wishes, Philadelphians by the names of Meredith and Ronald Hayes. Yet, there she was in the arms of Joshua Lee at the age of seventeen. Nine months later and she's having her first child, a boy she names Adam after her grandfather. Ronald Hayes is a Civil War veteran and as adventurous as he is, his Faith guides his hand as well, or at least the common sense employed by his beautiful wife.
The young surgeon, Joshua, married Abigail and took her out West. They settled in Springfield, Missouri. 1872 was a very fine and beautiful year for the three, Abi and Joshua, and little Adam. Joshua worked as a surgeon and town doctor with his own practice while Abigail tended to what property they owned. The two had a daughter by the end of '75. Other than her ability to take care of the children and home, she gained talents in artistry and imagination, using both to make small creations of wonders both paint and other-medium based.
Altogether, it was a perfected life until she was on the cusp of a twenty-fifth birthday.
She never knew Joshua dealt with narcotics and more clandestine forms of business. She never questioned where their money truly came from. There was trust and understanding to be had. However, that all changed when unscrupulous people began appearing around the homestead. Then, she was told: debts and missing products. Joshua would do the best he could, with what little he had left, fix everything for them.
That didn't happen.
Abigail Cate can some days recall the events in vivid detail and other times she blocks them out heavily. She remembers their faces, the ones who burnt down her life until there was little left. Her husband died that night, two shots to the chest, June Twenty-First, Eighteen Eighty. Trying to run and protect her children led to Abigail being raped and left for dead miles into the middle of nowhere, children taken from her. She tracked back to her home and salvaged what she could, and rather than head for the proper authorities or even family and friends, she took after those who had taken everything from her.
Four long weeks and then she took her revenge swiftly, cut down five members of the gang that had destroyed her life and in the following days claimed the last of them save for their supposed leader. They said they had ditched the children as dead weight, just like they had her, and she searched for days on end to no avail. Three graves were dug, two empty, and she left after the trail of the man that had taken everything of hers.
It was four long years in the making to get Abigail Cate Hayes to turn into the woman she is now: a touch of cold to a warm heart, a survivalist, etiquette framing a frontierswoman. She's a recent arrival to another town: Silver Creek, Colorado.
The tracks upon the heels of her target have grown cold.
Here's to whatever Fate has in store for the woman.
